Professional Background

Marisa is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with British Psychological Society and Registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council. Having spent over 14 years working in the NHS, she has worked in a range of services including physical health, mental health, neurodevelopmental and intellectual disabilities in the community with adults presenting with a range of difficulties.

Marisa is a skilled reflective scientific practitioner with well-developed core competencies. She is able to transfer these competencies in psychological knowledge, practice and skills and adapt them to the client population she is working with. Marisa remains empathetic to the needs of her clients while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

As a Counselling Psychologist, Marisa provides a safe and confidential space to explore the client’s difficulties. Her work is underpinned by the humanistic philosophy, and her approaches include Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Eye movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

Marisa provides support for adults 18+ with a range of mental health difficulties. She also has extensive experience of providing support for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions including autism spectrum conditions, intellectual disabilities and physical health conditions.
