Professional Background
Sarah is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. She is an Associate Fellow of The British Psychological Society and is registered with the Health Care Professions Council. She has worked in the field of psychology for over 20 years.
Sarah's first career was in general nursing, specialising in Accident & Emergency and working in both the UK and Australia. She then studied for a BSc. in Psychology at Warwick University (First Class Hons) and then worked for 2 years in Acquired Brain Injury and Adult Mental Health services. She went on to complete her Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Birmingham University, graduating in 2002. She worked in NHS settings for 16 years and since 2013 she has worked in full-time independent practice. Sarah is the Managing Director of Halliday Quinn Ltd and works with her Co-Director Dr David Quinn as well as a range of Associate clinicians.
Early in her psychology career, Sarah worked with physical health populations and this included working in physical trauma (burns and plastics), long-term health conditions management, chronic pain, cancer and palliative care. She then worked in Secondary Care Mental Health Teams delivering psychological interventions to people in the community with a wide range of emotional difficulties and providing consultation, training and supervision to the teams that she served.
Sarah has completed post-doctoral training in a range of models, including: Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, EMDR (Level 3) and Clinical Hypnosis (Level 3) and Compassion Focussed Therapy.
Other Interests
Sarah is passionate about history and enjoys reading and visiting historical sites. She also loves nature and spending time in the beautiful local countryside. Sarah has a keen interest in music from all eras and plays the Irish low D whistle (badly!)

Psychotherapy
Sarah can offer specialist psychological help to people experiencing a wide range of issues affecting their emotional well-being. She has a particular interest and expertise in the assessment and treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Trauma presentations and is passionate about helping traumatised individuals to move through their experience of trauma from ‘Survivor’ to ‘Thriver’.
Medicolegal Reports
Sarah also works as an Expert Witness in Civil Litigation and is able to provide a medicolegal opinion to the Court in personal injury cases. She can provide expert reports to both Claimant and Defendant Legal Representatives. She specialises in assessing the possible presence of psychological trauma following a wide range of incidents in which liability may be a factor, such as road traffic collisions, employment related injuries and accidents in public places.
Supervision & Training
Sarah is a Clinical Supervisor and is on the British Psychological Society’s Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors. She has experience of supervising a wide range of clinicians including Clinical Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychiatric Nurses and Psychiatrists. She also provides specialist training on all aspects of psychological trauma presentations, including Complex Trauma, PTSD (Type 1), with Secondary Traumatic Stress & Burnout as well as training teams in delivering effective interventions with traumatised individuals. Her accreditation with the Health Care Professions Council means that she receives regular supervision of her own clinical practice as well as maintaining an active engagement with her Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This ensures both the quality and safety of her practice.
