Professional Background

Shereen has worked as a psychologist in the NHS and independent sector healthcare since 2004. Her most significant experience is within neuropsychology and forensic services.  Shereen's current role involves providing assessment and formulation to inpatients with complex needs on a neuropsychiatry ward. She is also involved in enhancing the overall functioning of the inpatient service by reviewing and developing existing processes and providing forums for team formulation.

Shereen previously worked in a neuropsychology department assessing adults with a wide variety of neuropsychological difficulties.  Her role with Partnerships in Care (2009-2015) involved the assessment and treatment of detained adults (civil and criminal Sections, Mental Health Act, 1983) with highly complex needs, in secure psychiatric services.

She routinely provides full assessments and formulations involving the following areas: cognitive function; mental health (including psychosis, depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, learning difficulties and personality disorders); risk (violence, domestic abuse, sexual violence, self-harm and suicidal ideation), drawing from a range of assessment methods.  Shereen has extensive experience of providing therapeutic interventions (individual and group) to address issues such as those above.  She works closely with team members (medics, social workers, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and nurses).

Shereen has provided supervision to psychologists since March 2010 and consultation to other professionals.  She has provided teaching on the South Wales Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology.  Shereen receives her own clinical supervision from a highly experienced Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist.  She accesses regular supervision and if required,  for independent work (including forensic expertise).
